WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (PMAHCC) is a regional advocate for Pittsburgh’s Hispanic business community’s civic and economic interests. Their mission is to develop, promote and advocate on behalf of Hispanic businesses and professionals and support educational opportunities for Hispanic students with scholarship funds; and, WHEREAS, each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America; and, WHEREAS, the celebration begins September 15 because it signifies the anniversary of independence for the Latin American countries of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica; and, WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be kicking off the celebration at Highmark Stadium on September 15, 2021, where there will be networking, enjoying food, beverages, the beautiful city view and music by Noel Quintana, also known as “Mr. Conga”; and,

WHEREAS, the Keystone State Wrestling Alliance (K.W.S.A.) is a professional wrestling promotion organization founded in Pittsburgh in 2000 by Lou Zygmuncik and Shawn Blanchard. Its first show was held on February 18, 2000, at Peabody High School; and, WHEREAS, Shawn Blanchard has been with the K.S.W.A. organization for over 20 years. He is a 6-time KSWA Heavyweight Champion and has held that title more times than anyone. In addition to the six reigns, he has held tag team championship three times and is a two-time Tri-State champion; and, WHEREAS, in 2005, the organization began a tradition of donating toys to Allegheny County’s “Holiday Project” campaign, which has become an annual show named “FanFest” and brings thousands of toys to needy children in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area; and, WHEREAS, since then, they have performed and helped raise money for American Legions, Veterans of Foreign Affairs, cancer research, assistance to mentally disabled persons, food banks, and so much more; and, WHERESA, KSWA appears in numerous venues in the Pittsburgh area, including appearing twice at the Obey House in the neighborhood of Crafton Heights. On Saturday, September 25, 2021, K.W.S.A. Wrestling will be at the American Legion Langley Post 496 and will hold a Megastar Meet & Greet on Sunday, September 12 prior to the event; and,

Resolution approving execution of a Contract for Disposition by Sale of Land between the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh and Rose Street Ventures, or a related entity, for the sale of Block 10-P, Lots 186, 187, 188, 189, and 190, in the 5th Ward of the City of Pittsburgh (Council District No. 6 - 2117-2119, 2121, 2123, 2125, and 2127 Rose Street).

Resolution authorizing the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh to acquire all the City's Right, Title and Interest, if any, in and to the Publicly-Owned Properties in the 4th Ward of the City of Pittsburgh designated in the Deed Registry Office of Allegheny County as Block 11-K, Lots 78 and 78-2 (Council District No. 6 - 2 Seneca Street and 3 Seneca Street).

Resolution informing City Council of the reappointment of Michael Dunleavy as a member of the Sports and Exhibition Authority (SEA) Board for a term to expire December 31, 2024. Mr. Duneavy will continue to serve in a seat designated for a joint appointee from the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County.

Ordinance amending the Pittsburgh Code, Title V: Traffic, Article VII: Parking, Chapter 549: Residential Parking Permit Program, so as to clarify the administrative process for the program; provide for virtual permitting; add the permit fees to the City’s annual fee book; adopt regulations for the use of Visitor Permits and Non-Resident Permits; and create the hybrid RPP area program. WHEREAS, William P. McCoullum was hired as a laborer in the City Garage Department on March 20, 1972; and, WHEREAS, Mr. McCoullum was promoted to Truck Driver in October 1979 and then transferred to Asphalt Division in January 1980; and, WHEREAS, Mr. McCoullum transferred to 2nd Division in 2004 and remained there until his retirement on September 13 2021; and, WHEREAS, Mr. McCoullum has accumulated 635 hours (79 ½ days of sick time) and accumulated the maximum allotted sick time of 112 days during his tenure; and,

WHEREAS, Cenythisa “Nita” Strothers, daughter of George Williams and Rachel Strothers-Jenkins, has lived in Hazelwood for 68 years and has been an exemplary advocate, employee, volunteer and friend; and, WHEREAS, Nita began working with the A&P Company before going to the Pittsburgh Board of Education in Manchester and then to the Hazelwood Active Learning Center where she has worked with Paul, Keith and Roberta and served on the Senior Council; and, WHEREAS, Nita is active in the Morningstar Baptist Church, typing the weekly bulletin and singing in the choir. She enjoys dressing up and going out, traveling out of town and participating in Grandparents Day. Nita can be found each morning at her favorite breakfast place and has been known to devote her priceless time and effort to growing and shaping a young Hazelwood resident to become a responsible young man; and, WHEREAS, joining the Arts Excursions Unlimited in 2014, Nita teaches educational programs to children and is on the planning team to plan art and cultural trips for seniors; and,

WHEREAS, Reverend Rodolph W. Wakim was born on May 2, 1964, in Beit Mery, Lebanon to Wakim and Suzan Wakim; and, WHEREAS, he arrived in New York at age 23 and supported himself while studying at Brooklyn College. In 1992, he entered Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Seminary in Washington, D.C. where he completed his studies and was ordained in 1996; and, WHEREAS, his first assignment was at St Anthony Church in Falls River, MA where he was the Assistant Pastor from 1996-1997. Since 1997, he served almost 10 years as pastor of St. Elias Church in Roanoke, Va., where some of the first Lebanese settlers arrived; and, WHEREAS, in 2007, he was transferred to Our Lady of Victory Church in Pittsburgh, PA, where he still serves today; and, WHEREAS, Fr. Rodolph has a Master’s Degree in Theology. He is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Spanish. He was a chaplain of the Knights of Columbus for over 10 years. Rev. Wakim currently serves on the Board of the MYO (Maronite Youth Organization) and the Board of Vocations. He is a member of College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council and the Protopresbyter of the Mid Atlantic West in the Eparchy of St. Maron of Brooklyn; and, WHEREAS, he has been praised for his humanity, his humor and the care he shows for people. Fr. Rodolph has always been very much a man of the people, keeping the message of salvation clear and simple; and, WHEREAS, it is evident of his love for people from one of Fr. Rodolph’s favorite quotes: "I shall pass this way but once; any good, therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again”; and,

WHEREAS, public pools in the City of Pittsburgh are a place designated for relaxation, community building, and access to exercise and athletic development; and, WHEREAS, lifeguards are tasked with teaching individuals how to swim, and most importantly, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for the community to enjoy; and, WHEREAS, the City pools were the only public pools that stayed open until Labor Day, making the last couple weeks of the season especially busy; and, WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting labor shortage made this summer especially difficult to find and hire lifeguards; and, WHEREAS, lifeguards that were hired this year had to go above and beyond what is normally expected of their duties;and, WHEREAS, lifeguards often had to take on many responsibilities such as childcare and public safety; and, WHEREAS, in times of emergency, lifeguards must overcome distraction and remain calm, organized, and focused on keeping the public safe; and, WHEREAS, on July 28th, 2021, a shooting at the Highland Park Pool showcased the immense courage of CitiParks lifeguards and employees; and, WHEREAS, employees at the Highland Park Pool, many of them teenagers, acted quickly to ensure safety from danger by sheltering patrons in locker rooms; and, WHEREAS, the lifeguards at Sue Murray and Highland Park Pools deserve special recognition for their dedication to ensuring the safety of the public all season long; and,
