Resolution vacating a portion of Shakespeare Street and Houston Street in the 7th, Ward, 8th Council District of the City of Pittsburgh.

Resolution further amending Resolution 549, effective September 21, 2012 entitled “providing for an agreement/s, or use of existing agreements and/or a contract/s, or use of existing contracts, and for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and/or services for City Council Neighborhood Needs Program and providing for the payment of the costs thereof”, by transferring $5,500 from District 1 Neighborhood Needs Projects and adding that amount to Community Alliance Spring Garden East Deutschtown for a surveillance camera. Total cost of all projects is not to exceed $437,779.53.

Resolution further amending and supplementing Resolution No. 855 of 2011, entitled “adopting and approving the 2012 Capital Budget and the 2012-2017 Capital Improvement Program” by transferring $5,500 from District 1 Neighborhood Needs Projects and adding that amount to Community Alliance Spring Garden East Deutschtown for a surveillance camera.

Resolution amending Resolution No. 341, effective May 17, 2013, entitled “Resolution providing for an Agreement or Agreements with various community organizations for operational/administrative expenses, maintenance, purchase of equipment and/or rehabilitation of neighborhood facilities and the benefit of residents of the City of Pittsburgh; and further, authorizing various City Departments to enter into contact or contracts or use existing contract or contracts for street paving, the purchase of equipment and/or furniture and other related costs at a costs not to exceed 800,000.00”, so as to reprogram funds in City Council from: “District 1 Equipment” (-$2,000.00) (-$6,000.00) and transfer these funds to “Pressley High Rise Tenant Council” (+ $2,000.00), Allen Place Community Services Inc. +$2,000.00 and Spring Hill Civic League, +$2,000.00.

Amending Resolution No. 342, effective May 17, 2013, entitled: Resolution providing for the filing of a Community Development statement by the City of Pittsburgh with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for a grant in connection with the 2008 Community Development Block Grant Program; providing for the execution of grant contracts and for the filing of other data providing for required assurances; providing for execution of payment vouchers on letter of credit and for certification of authorized signature; the deposit of the funds in a bank account and providing for the payment of expenses within categories, so as to reprogram funds in City Council from: “District 1 Equipment”(-$6,000.00) and transfer these funds to “Pressley High Rise Tenant Council” (+ $2,000.00), Allen Place Community Services Inc. +$2,000.00 and Spring Hill Civic League, +$2,000.00.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend The Jewish Women's Foundation for it belief in making the world a better place both structurally by strengthening the role of women and girls in our society and culturally by influencing the way people think about and act upon things regarding women and girls' issues; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 5, 2013, to be “THE JEWISH WOMEN'S FOUNDATION DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh on 30 years of excellence and service to Pittsburgh's Northside; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, June 7, 2013 to be “Children's Museum Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby recognizes and honors the 2013 awardees and extends gratitude to each individual and organization for making the North Side a great place to live, work and play; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council acknowledges the efforts that the NSLC has achieved through collaboration within the community and corporate organizations and hereby declares June 2013 to be “Northside Leadership Conference and Awardees Month” in the City of Pittsburgh.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and thank Officer Lois “Chicken” Yannotti for her years of unparalleled commitment to CAPA, its students, and staff as displayed through the remarkable depth of her capacity to care for, and give back to, the CAPA community, and does wish her a very happy retirement; and THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, June 5th 2013 “Officer Lois 'Chicken' Yannotti Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Jewish Association on Aging for envisioning a community in which the elderly have a suitable place to live, are socially engaged, are well-nourished physically and emotionally, receive the health care they need and are spiritually fulfilled in the Jewish tradition and congratulates the 8 respected and distinguished “8 Over 80” honorees for a lifetime of dedication and commitment to the Pittsburgh and Jewish communities ; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare June 6, 2013, to be “EIGHT OVER 80 DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby honor all Veterans living within the city limits and across Pennsylvania and commend the many volunteers honoring them with a beautiful garden; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 1, 2013, to be “Veteran's Memorial Garden Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Jerusalem Baptist Church over 112 years of Christ Centered Service; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday June 2, 2013 to be “Jerusalem Baptist Church Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
