Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the Directors of the Department of Public Works and Parks and Recreation to Enter into a Project and License Agreement with the Mount Washington Community Development Corporation for the Fort Pitt Tunnel Trail Connection Project.

Resolution granting unto Bakery Square 2 Agent, LP 5500 Walnut Street, Suite 300, Pittsburgh PA 15232, their successor and assign, the privilege and license to construct, maintain and use at their own cost and expense, an aerial encroachment for a pedestrian bridge over the right-of-way at 6425 Penn Avenue in the 12 and 7 Ward, 9 and 8 Council District of the City of Pittsburgh.

Resolution re-appointing Janet Evans as a member of the Board of Directors of the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh for a term to expire on September 30, 2019.

Resolution appointing Valerie McDonald Roberts as a member of the Board of Directors of the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh for a term to expire on April 30, 2016. Ms. McDonald Roberts will fill the seat vacated by Bea Hogan.

Resolution further amending Resolution No. 493, effective August 6, 2012 entitled “providing for an agreement/s, or use of existing agreements and/or a contract/s, or use of existing contracts, and for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and/or services for City Council Neighborhood Needs Program and providing for the payment of the costs thereof”, by transferring $5,000 from District 6 Neighborhood Initiative to Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group/Pittsburgh Downtown Community Development Corporation in Council District 6 Neighborhood Needs. Total cost of all projects is not to exceed $130,802.79

Resolution further amending and supplementing Resolution No. 855 of 2011, entitled “adopting and approving the 2012 capital budget and the 2012-2017 Capital Improvement Program” by transferring $5,000 from District 6 Neighborhood Initiative to Pittsburgh Community Reinvestment Group/Pittsburgh Downtown Community Development Corporation in Council District 6 Neighborhood Needs for the purpose of lighting street trees on Sixth Street.

Ordinance amending the Pittsburgh Code, Title Nine, Zoning, Article IV. Planning Districts, Chapter 908, Section 908.02 Grandview Public Realm District, 908.02.D.2 (b)(1) and 908.02 D.3 (c)(1) Height restrictions, by changing certain main structure heights from a Special Exception to a Conditional Use approval process in accordance with Section 922.06.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby join in the national celebration in the pursuit of the shared goal and responsibility of providing equal housing opportunities for all men and women. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare the month of April 2014, to be “Fair Housing Month” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the American Cancer Society's Greater Pittsburgh Unit for the determination to fight and find cures for all those who are dealing with cancer and we encourage all citizens of Pittsburgh to join a Relay for Life event; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 8, 2014, to be "Relay for Life Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor William Poleski, Jessie Ryan, John Sibbet, the Animal Rescue League, and all of the Pittsburgh Police Officers and Firefighters that helped rescue the stranded pit bull; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, April 8, 2014 to be “William Poleski and Jessie Ryan Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby honor and commend Dr. Ron Archer for his dedication and service; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, April 6, 2014, to be “Dr. Ron Archer Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the students and staff of Bishop Canevin High School for their energy and dedication that they have devoted to this production and for their continued support of the arts in education; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday-Saturday, April 10th- 12th, 2014, to be “Bishop Canevin's Musical Days” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Girls Volleyball Team of Bishop Canevin High School, Head Coach Kevin Walters, Assistant Coaches Danelle Wagner, Pete Barakat and Meghan Cunningham for a great season and congratulate them for their first WPIAL Class A title; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, April 10, 2014, to be “Lady Crusaders Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Varsity Hockey Team of Bishop Canevin High School, Head Coach Kevin Zielmanski, Assistant Coaches William Zuri, Chris Vaccaro and Kevin Hart and Team Manager Jean Adams for their dedication and hard work and congratulate them on their seventh PIHL Class AA Penguins Cup title; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, April 10, 2014, to be “Crusaders Hockey Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate the Honorable Ronald Castille for exemplifying qualities of an outstanding judiciary leader by embodying the core values of justice and fairness; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 to be “Judge Ronald Castille Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the Honorable Robert E. Colville for his admirable and diverse career in the law, as well as his service to the City of Pittsburgh; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 to be “Judge Robert E. Colville Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
